How Come They Don't Do That in My Country?

Hats off again to the Singaporeans… The other day, I went to the gas station to fill a low tire with air. Of course, I’m driving a new car, so I have no clue what the required pressure is, and, it’s in metrics (kPa, for you physics flunkies), so I really have no clue what the required pressure is. Check the manual, blah, blah, blah, now… check this out: Not only is the air pump FREE, but it is housed in this big box with a digital LED on it that displays the pressure. Some of you might be confused at this point. Le’ me esplain: You walk up to the machine, push the up/down buttons until the desired air pressure is displayed (you can toggle between psig and kPa, btw :-) and hook that sucker on to your tire. When your tire pressures up to the number you “dialed” in, the machine beeps. That’s it, you’re done; no more tire gauges, no checking and re-checking, just a beep. Now, how friggan' cool is that? Us Americans maybe we not so smart, heh lah?
