New Digs

This is our last week in the serviced apartment. We get the keys to the new apartment on Saturday, then we move in on Monday. We're getting anxious to move. It's been nice here (especially having housekeeping service every day!), but I'm ready for my own belongings. The kids haven't stopped asking for their toys. If I have to hear, "Can I have my Hot Wheels track?" one more time, I will slap myself silly with it whenever it does get here.

The place we decided upon is in a great location. It's not in the hippest neighborhood, and it's not a big expat neighborhood, but it's got a lot of conveniences nearby, from a grocery, restaurants, movie theater, specialty shops, Starbucks--it's a long list. Plus it's a pretty nice apartment too. Here it is, empty.

Living Room--sorry about the dark photo. How about those windows, huh?

View from our living room window:

Master Bedroom--the view is the same as the living room.

Built-in wardrobe in the master. All bedrooms have similar wardrobes. And out of all of those cabinets, there's maybe 4 little drawers. I mean, come on! Scott's undershirts alone will take up all of those drawers!

Master Bath. I'm not sure what's up with the red stripe. I actually saw the same kind of stripe on a glass divider in one of the MRT stations. I'm guessing it is for safety, so people won't walk into it on accident because they couldn't see it. Nothing like a safety stripe on your shower walls! And how about that pink granite countertop, huh?

Kitchen. Newly renovated. The window faces the back of the building. The door leads to the back patio, where the washer and dryer are. There's a great pull-down drying rack too. I can't remember if there was a dishwasher, but if there is, it would be out there with the washer and dryer...isn't that so convenient?

Reverse view of the kitchen. A pass-through window to the dining room, which is right by the living room. (That is the big wall of windows in the background.) Lots of counter space.

Better view of the stove/oven. The door on the right leads out into the hallway. All kitchens here have that direct access to the kitchen from the hall, to make bringing groceries in easier. Also, our kitchen is air conditioned, unlike almost all other kitchens in Singapore. They're mostly unairconditioned, and many of them don't even have a door separating them from the back patio, so it's almost like you're cooking outside.

The pool area. Kind of small, but nice. I just noticed that little walkway in the middle that ends between those brick walls. I have no idea what's back there. Looks like I have some investigating to do.

Hopefully I'll have photos of the apt. with actual furniture in it soon.
